The Department of Mathematics and Science Education adopts as its mission the education of prospective teachers who, through a student-centered teacher education approach based on learning by doing and experiencing, use educational technologies effectively, have a well-developed awareness of ethical responsibility, and can integrate subject-matter knowledge with pedagogical knowledge.
By continuously reviewing and updating its programs in line with current developments in education and the needs in the field, the Department aims to educate teachers with high assessment and evaluation competence, critical thinking skills, and social sensitivity, to strengthen the research-based approach, and to broaden social contribution.
The Department envisions becoming a leading department that, by creating a nationally and internationally respected, innovative, and socially contribution-oriented education and research environment, provides teacher education at international standards and universal quality; effectively implements quality assurance and accreditation processes (including the Bologna Process); and increases scientific output and collaborations.
